A lot of reading of choral teaching texts. Barbara Brinson's Choral Teaching Methods and materials was easy to understand. I used the idea from here for rehearsal planning and doing small chunks to give the singers a chance to absorb the information. Listening back to session one I realise I attempted too long a section with the sopranos especially. This meant that some of the other singers got a bit bored and the Sopranos got tired. Time was not evenly distributed amongst the parts. I also played too loud sat times. This, on reflection did not allow for careful listening. I will prepare a Sibelius audio file for the second session which may help me control this better. I can vary the volume.
This kind of experience in leading with a very understanding group of participants is highly valuable.
