Week 26

As well as two full days at Drake on Monday and Friday Tuesday found me battling the elements to get to Abertay. I had KM all to myself for the tutorial session, which proved really beneficial for me. KM checked my transcript of my first subject interview. Then I asked about the participant forms that KM had also checked and he cleared. I enquired about the importance of sample size and was reassured that if the numbers drop this will not prejudice my project as it is already a small sample. The minimum will be 4 as I need to have 4 voice parts to execute the interventions fully.

As I have been ill and there has been two weeks slippage, which may be further impacted by the choir’s commitments we then we talked about an extension or deferment. I really hope I can complete this year but KM has told me of the options and that my health must come first. I just need to weigh up my options. What will help me decide?

·      When the choir can agree to hold the second session
·      How quickly I can collate, analyse and write up about my data

We discussed the dissertation, which clarified a lot of the requirements for the different chapters. I spent Wednesday listening back to and transcribing the recording of this tutorial. I did some further investigation and wrote some sub headings under the headings of the draft outline on Thursday and at the weekend. One particular benefit of this process that I did not really expect was that I found myself reviewing the articles and papers specific to my study and realised that I may not have enough material to work with. So, it will be back to the University library for me. I was however reassured that I have sourced a good selection of textb
ooks.
